    Our aim is to blend modern knowledge with sustainable farming methods using local breeds that are suited to the area. Devon cattle and Exmoor horn sheep have been bred here in an unbroken line for well over a century, so we are keen to conserve this living link with the past and hand it on to future generations.

    West Ilkerton is our home as well as our business. The welfare of our animals and conservation of our beautiful farm are very important to us.

    All our meat is produced from cattle and sheep that are born and raised on the farm, grass fed and taken by us to the local abattoir at Combe Martin, minimising stress and food miles. The meat is air dried in a cold store there (beef for at least 3 weeks and lamb for about a week) before being cut and packaged by the master butcher at Combe Martin Meats, who makes delicious beef sausages and beef burgers for us, too.

    The farmhouse at West Ilkerton is supplied with electricity from a wind turbine and is heated by a biomass boiler that burns wood from our hedges and trees. The farm is under a Higher Level Stewardship agreement, which helps us to conserve a variety of wildlife and historical features.

    Boxes of frozen meat are usually available at any time. Fresh meat can be purchased on the day it comes back from the butcher (dates are posted in advance on our website and social media).

    We offer a next day courier service anywhere in England and Wales for an extra £22 per order for up to 14kg of fresh or frozen meat, which is packed with reusable ice sheets in a insulated box.
