Pick, pulp, press and pasteurise your own juice in a private orchard
Visit Lemons Farm throughout September and October to spend a day in their private orchard pressing your own juice and learning the traditional Devon art of cider production. Bask in the view overlooking the beautiful Taw Valley and take all your produce home to enjoy over the year!
What’s involved?
Guests will be welcomed to Lemons Farm and taken up to our private orchard to be given a briefing on the apples, cider production and the local area.
You will be able to select from a number of apple varieties, pick, pulp, press and then pasteurise the apples for juice or pack away for cider production and take all your produce home with you. You will also be treated to a ploughman’s lunch (morning experiences) or afternoon tea (afternoon experiences).
The experience lasts three hours (around two hours to press and sample and then an hour for lunch/tea). Guests will be able to take home all the juice they are able to press during this time, either in their own bottles or in ours. There will be tea and coffee making facilities on site and guests will also be able to swill down their own freshly pressed juice.
If you wish to take part in the Apple Pressing you should bring with you:
- Wellies and waterproofs in case of rain
- Sun protection and a hat in case of sun
- Guests can bring their own bottles or purchase directly from us.
We will provide all equipment and guidance on how to press and blend your own delicious juices and cider. We can provide 1l glass bottles for pasteurising or plastic bottles for freezing (£1 each) or guests can bring their own.
